New Mexico Crash Data Mapping Portal

When a user first loads the page they are presented with a hexbin map of the crashes in New Mexico.

The size and color of the hexbins are updated when panning and zooming. If a user pans or zooms into a different area the hexbins and legend are updated.

There are four radius' used to calculate the hexbins:

State Level	10 Mile Radius	16093.4 Meter Radius
Region Level	5 Mile Radius	8046.72 Meter Radius
County Level	0.5 Mile Radius	804.67 Meter Radius
Block Level	50 Foot Radius	15.24 Meter Radius

The layer switcher will allow users to show, hide, rearrange, and change the opacity of layers in the map. This is where layers will be added when using analytics tools.

The pointer button allows the user to navigate the map and allows the user to click on a hexbin to get the number or crashes in a hexbin.

This button allows the user to get the number of crashes within a boundary by clicking and dragging a drawn box.

Fit to extent. This will refit the extent to New Mexico.

Full screen. This will show that map in full screen mode.

Tools Note: All tools use only the points within the map extent for calculations.

Getis-Ord Gi*

This tool calculates Getis-Ord Gi* and returns a point layer to be displayed. This tool requires that the user zoom into a smaller area as it cannot be calculated on all points. Once the user has zoomed to an acceptable level they will be able to choose the year to be calculated on, the spatial relationship of the points, and the distance or number of nearest neighbors to use.

Getis-Ord General G

This tool will calculate the Getis-Ord General G statistics. The user is able to choose the year to be calculated on, the spatial relationship of the points, and the distance or number of nearest neighbors to use for calculations.

Kernel Density

This tool will calculate the Kernel Density of the points within the extent and return a raster image. The pixel resolution is determined by the users zoom level.

The user has the option to see raw pixel values or to smooth the image using interpolation. Interpolation is calculated on the front-end when rendering the image.

Point Density

This tool will calculate the Point Density of the points within the extent and return a raster image. The pixel resolution is determined by the users zoom level.

Mean Center

This tool will calculate the the Mean Center of the points within the extent and mark the location on the map.

Median Center

This tool will calculate the the Median Center of the points within the extent and mark the location on the map.

Global Morans I

This tool will calculate the Global Morans I stastics. The user is required to choose an attribute and is given the option to provide the number or nearest neighbours for calculation. If left blank, the number of nearest neighbours will default to 40.

Local Morans I

This tool will calculate Local Morans I and will return the significant points as a point layer. The user is required to choose an attribute and is given the option to provide the number or nearest neighbours for calculation. If left blank, the number of nearest neighbours will default to 40.
